The Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation is located on the main campus of Children’s National Health System in Washington, DC. The institute applies innovative approaches to make pediatric surgery more precise, less invasive, and pain free. The institute reflects a shared vision between the United Arab Emirates and Children’s National to advance medical innovations that will improve children's health worldwide.
The institute team implements the principles of innovation to transform pediatric surgery and allow children to live longer, healthier lives. Our work focuses in four main areas:
This institute was made possible by a historic gift of $150 million from the people of Abu Dhabi. It was the largest gift ever made to support pediatric surgery, and one of the largest to any children's hospital. The United Arab Emirates is one of several countries in the Middle East and North Africa region from which Children’s National has been treating patients for more than a decade. For more information, visit the institute’s website.
